I really didn't enjoy our last class nearly as much as the one before. I thought the long discussion really got a lot of people involved and answered a lot of our questions. This "scanning" the blackboard for ideas and interests just did not work at all for me. I thought 2 classes ago was great. We really got into some good stuff thagt people were passionate about and I was quite dissapointed that we did not do that again. I bet that if we discussed each chapter as a group everyone would have learned WAY more...but thats just me

You know, I agree with you. I had an earlier position on this that I thought the discussion was too disorganized, but I was a little bored with the black board approach. Matt, I think you're right that heated debates and discussions *like the one we had previously*, brought out interesting questions and opinions and included everything.

I think you have an interesting point about the class and where the discussion was going. Unfortunately if we could stay on track with the readings and important themes that are involved with the book, we would be able to have more discussions like we did 2 classes ago.
I noticed in that class that we got a little off track at points and at point people were trying to show off their knowledge and preach their views rather than bring up constructive ideas. Personally I hate when it gets like that sometimes because the conversation becomes a competition with who can bring up a better point about something off topic. I personally get annoyed.
